Instagram Job Scam: Fake Recruiters Targeting Students with Work-from-Home Offers
Scammers are posing as recruiters on Instagram, offering fake work-from-home jobs and demanding registration fees from students.
A new scam targeting students and job seekers has emerged on Instagram, where fraudsters create fake recruiter profiles and post attractive work-from-home opportunities.
Victims are contacted via direct messages and offered simple tasks such as data entry or content writing with high payouts. After gaining trust, scammers ask for a “registration” or “security deposit” fee ranging from ₹500 to ₹5000.
Once the payment is made, the fraudsters either block the victim or stop responding altogether. In some cases, they continue asking for additional payments under different excuses.
Experts advise users to verify recruiter profiles, avoid paying any upfront fees, and cross-check job offers through official company websites.
