Courier Scam Alert: Fake Delivery Calls Asking for OTP and Payment Details
Fraudsters are posing as courier agents and calling users to collect OTPs or fake delivery charges.
A new courier scam is rapidly increasing across India, where fraudsters impersonate delivery executives from well-known courier companies.
Victims receive calls claiming that a package is stuck or requires a small payment for delivery. In some cases, scammers ask for an OTP under the pretext of verifying the address.
Once the OTP is shared, fraudsters use it to gain access to banking or payment apps and perform unauthorized transactions.
Authorities have warned users to never share OTPs over phone calls and to verify delivery information directly through official courier websites or apps.
Users are also advised to be cautious of unexpected delivery calls, especially when they have not ordered anything.
